August was like one long, lazy Sunday. We had some cosy rainy days but for the most part, the heatwave continued. We soaked up the last of the summer sun and prepared for all the excitement yet to come!
This one’s a little later than usual but as always, here are a few of the things that made me smile this month…
Plenty of lazy days wrapped up in a blanket whilst reading Harry Potter. It was perfect!
Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again
In August we went to see Mamma Mia 2 and although I had quite low expectations I loved it soo much. It was such a feel-good movie.
Halloween making an appearance!
Towards the end of the month, the odd Halloween and Autumn accessories appeared in the shops! I love all things Autumn so for me this was a big deal!!!
To All The Boys I Loved Before
TATB came to Netflix this month and although I haven’t read the book yet I had heard so many good things and couldn’t wait to watch it. It did not disappoint! I have watched it multiple times since and based on the number of Buzzfeed articles about it, I am not the only one who is totally in love with the film!
My new pumpkin candle
I follow lots of Autumn-themed Instagram accounts and I see so many people from America posting photos of the amazing autumnal accessories that they have found in their local stores. But I always feel like the UK just doesn’t do Autumn quite right. Some stores are great for Halloween decor (which is definitely a good thing!) but I can never find anything that’s simply autumnal! But then in August, I bought this pumpkin and ginger scented candle in a little white and copper pumpkin candle holder from Next. I’m so happy to have finally found a pumpkin candle in a high street store!
Spending time with family and Billy
I work a lot of weird shifts so can’t always visit my family when I want to but I actually managed to spend quite a bit of time catching up with family during August. I even finished work early one day and got to spend some time with the friendliest of my four-legged friends – Billy. We watched Toy Story 2 together and he loved it.
My mum’s birthday is in August and I always love it because she’s so much fun to buy for (Basically anything cosy, pink, Disney or Harry Potter is a winner!) and it’s always a perfect chance to see the family and bake cupcakes!
Seasonal Drinks & Baking
It’s that time of year – The seasonal drinks are now available and I can start putting cinnamon and nutmeg in everything I bake! In August I tried making doughnuts for the first time. I’m hoping to perfect a recipe this month so hopefully, I’ll share that with you soon!
My dad’s cat She-ra went missing this month which was really upsetting but I was so happy to hear that she returned home safe. Even if she was very hungry and unusually clingy!
I took a photo of this rose back on the last day of May, after all the snow and right before the heatwave started. It made me feel so excited for Summer. On the last day of August I’d had a really long day and I was really looking forward to Autumn. I walked past this rose again and when I saw how much it had changed it made me so excited for the changing season and all the great things that are still to come this year!
I hope that August was a lovely one for you and that you’re enjoying September so far!
I’m really embracing Autumn as always and I’ll try and post a lot more adventures, bakes and crafts this season.
