July went by in a blur of sunny days and hard work.
It was a really busy month at work so I didn’t have a lot of spare time that wasn’t spent sleeping but here are a few of the things that made me smile this month…
The return of Orange is the New Black
IT IS FINALLY BACK! Of course, I’ve already watched the whole season but we managed to spread the episodes out over 5 days this time which is better than our usual 2. It was worth the wait and whilst this season was missing some of the usual characters, it didn’t fail to surprise me, make me cry, make me laugh and of course make me smile!
I didn’t have a lot of time for baking this month but as always, it was one of the things that made me smile. I made some cute strawberry lemonade cupcakes and also tried a Nigella flourless brownie recipe that you can find here. If you like chocolate and walnuts you should definitely try making them because they are so easy to make and they taste incredible!
A Day out at Marwell Zoo
In July I visited Marwell for the first time in about 4 years. The weather was amazing, I got to see the new tropical house and learnt so much. You can see some of the photos from my day out here.
I can’t believe the weather has made it onto this list for another month! The heatwave continued for most of July meaning I could continue reading Goblet of Fire out in the sunshine and go for long walks after work. The weather has actually cooled down a bit now, my tans fading and it actually rained quite a lot last week but I can’t be sad – the suns back out today and I don’t remember the last time we had a summer that lasted this long!
Catching up with family
I finally had time to visit everyone. I spent a day at my mums catching up with everyone and enjoying an ice cream on the shore. I also got to visit my dad, enjoy cuddles with Billy and battle my brother Matthew and dad in a game of naming the 50 states!
This months list was definitely much shorter than usual, I can’t believe how quickly July went by! I’m really looking forward to August. I love soaking up the last of the summer sun before my favourite season arrives! I’ve already got so many blog posts planned for Autumn and lots of autumnal craft stuff arriving in the post. But first, it’s time to enjoy the rest of the summer!
