If you watch Tanya Burr’s videos on Youtube or read her blog, you will know that Tanya loves to bake. She is also very good at it! At Christmas time I followed her recipe for Christmas shortbread biscuits. It was so easy and so yummy I couldn’t wait to try out more of her recipes! So you can probably imagine how excited I am about the publication of her first baking book, Tanya Bakes!

Tanya Bakes contains a variety of Tanya’s recipes as well as recipes that have been passed down through her family and those that have been shared amongst her friends. Whether you are new to baking or feeling confident, there is a recipe for everyone! From brunch to celebration treats, Tanya Bakes is full of yummy recipes to suit any occasion.

On top of the great recipes, the book is beautiful. It is packed with gorgeous photographs of each baked treat. I can only hope that my creations look that good.


Whilst I adore Tanya and am very happy with this beautiful book, I must mention that there are a few mistakes in the book.
If you have an origional copy featuring the errors, here is a list of the changes:
S’mores Cupcakes
The original publication did not include flour or baking powder in the list of ingredients despite being mentioned in the directions.
160g plain flour, 2 teaspoons of baking powder is needed.
Carrot Cake
The original list of ingredients states 25g plain flour. This has been corrected to 325g.
Rainbow Cake
The original directions suggest a baking time of 180-20 minutes. This has been corrected to 18-20 minutes.
Cinnamon Buns
The original list of ingredients does not mention milk whereas the directions do.
300ml of milk is needed.
Ultimate Celebration Cake
The original list of ingredients states 75g brown sugar. This has been corrected to 375g.
Mistakes aside, I am so proud of Tanya and really excited about what she will achieve next! I recommend Tanya Bakes to Tanya’s fans and to anyone who enjoys baking!

Hi, I know this is an old post but I was wondering if you could share any other changes from the book? I recently purchased a copy and it turns out its an old print with the errors. I have tried contacting penguin and gotten no response plus the link about the edits does not work >.<

Thanks for letting me know that the link is no longer working. Unfortunately Penguin deleted the article that included all the errors in the recipes! I’ll have a look and see if I have them written down anywhere and if so I’ll let you know and I’ll update this post to include them.

Hi, just to let you know I had a look through my copy and the only changes I made are the ones already listed in my post. I think any other changes in the newer copies of the book is in the formatting and the narrative text rather than the recipes themselves 🙂
