“Cruelty does not make a person dishonest, the same way bravery does not make a person kind.”
Insurgent is the sequel to the No. 1 New York bestseller Divergent. Tris’s initiation day was supposed to be a day of celebration but after the horrifying events in the last book, Tris now has to learn to accept a new future. Yet if Tris wants to uncover the truth about the world she is living in she has to be stronger than ever. There are far more shocking choices and sacrifices that lie ahead.
__________
This book takes off immediately where the first one ended. The world Tris once new is quickly falling apart around her and there’s no way of telling who you can trust. This book allows you to learn so much about each of the characters and I really like that the factionless are given a much stronger role to play. A lot of the story is, at first, dedicated to Tris trying to adjust to the new world and her working through her issues however this doesn’t go on forever. Tris grows stronger as time goes on and this is something I love about her character; she gets more fearless, smarter and more confident with every chapter.
Without giving away too much – Insurgent is full of revelations. There is so much more to a lot of characters than Tris could have ever imagined. This book is darker and more exciting than the first and a really solid second novel. I’d definitely recommend giving this series a read!
